If you’ve been reading my blog for or following me on social media for a while, then you probably know that apart from my travel adventures, I share my thoughts on simple living and journey to minimalism from time to time.
I’ve never been a maximalist in my life. The desire to own less but quality stuff was installed in me by my mother from a very early age. My mother is someone who can wear clothes for years and years. But she also takes excellent care of every piece of clothing she owns: storing them away properly, dry-cleaning etc.
I always admired how she knows where everything she owns is stored, and how she would easily put an outfit together even if she had 15 minutes to get ready and be out the door. And I always thought it’s a unique skill that she had. But years later, when I discovered minimalism philosophy – ‘Less is more’ it all suddenly made sense. My mum is a minimalist, and she’s been practising that unique skill for years. And you know what, it won’t happen overnight, but anyone can train themselves to live more simply, sustainably and intentionally.
When I have consciously decided to adopt a minimal lifestyle about 3 years ago, I have found lots of inspiration from watching Ted Talks and hearing stories of different people and their journeys towards simple life and minimalism.
In this post, I wanted to share some of the best Ted talks that have inspired me to live like a minimalist, made me want to declutter and simplify my wardrobe, relationships and life in general.
WHAT IS A TED TALK?
In case you’re not familiar, TED is an American media organization that advocates ”ideas worth spreading”. TED was first held as a conference in 1984, and since 1990 it’s been held annually around the world. TED talks are limited to a maximum length of 18 minutes but may be on any topic.
